Due to the success of last year’s team, Glen Innes will compete in a higher division than they have before.
Association spokesperson Julie Fuller said she is confident both teams will rise to the challenge.
“This is a first for us as we have always competed in the lower division and it will be a challenge for both teams,” she said.
“I am confident however that the girls will do well.
“They will play 20 games in three days and the girls will have to adapt to the changeable weather.”
Ms Fuller said the young under 13 team will play at the State carnival for the first time.
“They are all very excited,” she said.
“The girls have been training hard and they have the ability to play well, so hopefully they can keep it together for the three days of competition.
“The team is very adaptable and they have good parental support which will help them with this challenge and to achieve their goals.”
The under 13 team consists of; Bridgette Beatty, Georgina Burton, Jessica Trow, Claudia Sieber, Sophie McCormick, Andeese Cameron, Maddie Cooke, Kyiesha Naden, Bridie Williamson, Chelsey Kemp and Matilda Sieber.
Ms Fuller said the under 15 team is a very consistent unit with the majority of the players having played together in previous years.
“They have a couple of younger players who will tackle the challenge head on,” she said.
“Division three will see them play tougher and stronger girls but our team has a tenacity and a determination that has made them a winning combination.
“Both teams have been working hard with weekly gym and skills sessions and I wish them the best of luck.”
The under 15 team consists of; Siddella Donnelley, Emily Burton, Liz Chard, Ruby Beatty, Jess de Jong, Summa Carpenter, Sarah Miron, Maddy Taylor, Kyah Heagney, Katrina Button and Emma Higgins.
Glen Innes also has also had five girls selected to play for the NIAS at the NIB games in Maitland in mid-July.
Division one players are; Eleanor Malone, Liz Chard, Emily Burton and Division two players are Siddella Donnelley and Ruby Beatty.
These girls have been selected due to previous training sessions and the NIAS squad is sponsored by the Glen Innes and District services club.
