Athletes that competed at the North West carnival competed against schools from across the North west region.
School sports coordinator Kirstie Fuller said for the students to then be eligible for the state competition they must come first or second in their events.
“Our students that did this are now in the North West team and will compete at Sydney Olympic Park from September 7 to 9,” she said.
“We were really a dominate school in terms of performance considering all the schools that represent our region.”
The individuals are: Satara Speedy (100m and 200m), Charlie Smith (800m), Matthew Campion (1500m and 3000m, steeple chase), Liz Chard (discus and shotput), Kealia Hope (discus and javelin), Mikielee snow (100 and 200), Georgie Webster (shotput), Kameli Navaqou (shotput), Jasmine Doust (200m), Tom Chard (discus), Sarah Byrne (200, long jump), Evan Byrne (long jump), Any Byrne (100, 200), Antwon Fields (high jump), David Graham and Nick Alley (steeple chase, pentathlon).
On top of individual competitors there were also six relay teams who gained selection.
After recently competing in an international event in Fiji local speedster Mikielee Snow was the fastest female athlete of any age in the running events at the carnival.
“I was really pleased with that result,” she said.
Evan Byrne said he was happy with his performance doing a PB in the long jump of 5.11.
Sarah Byrne had the longest measured jump of any female at the carnival and has been competing at State for the past eight years.
“I am also competing in the pentathlon event and I’m aiming to achieve a podium finish in this event in what will be my last year of competition,” she said.
“Kealia Hope came first in discus, second in javelin and 3rd in shotput.
“I was very happy with my performance in discus, I threw a PB in this event,” she said.
