Staff excavated the site and the hole was backfilled and compacted.
Council spokesperson Mahri Koch said when the weather allows, a more extensive investigation will be carried out.
The lane was opened after the works were completed with a diversion around the actual site.
Ms Koch said motorists were able to negotiate the diversion without much disruption to their day.“Nearby businesses noticed motorists using care and caution around the site,” she said.“Council regrets the inconvenience that this partial road closure caused, and thanks businesses, motorists and residence for their understanding and cooperation. “The Glen Innes local government area experienced heavy rainfall last week that also caused the bridge over the Severn River, at the 9 Mile Road crossing to be closed due to flooding.”
