Local MP Adam Marshall has disputed a local independent fuel retailers claims that the state governments FuelCheck initiative will be scammed by multi national retailers.

Mr Marshall said Glen Innes fuel retailer Ralph Panebianco does not understand the legislation.
“His claims are rubbish and he should be happy about the initiative because it will do the opposite of what he says, it will give power to the independent fuel station,” he said.
“By putting information directly in the hands of consumers, the FuelCheck app should effectively make collusion by the big multi nationals impossible in the future.
“What Mr Panebianco should realise is that it will be a crime for the multi nationals to not sell fuel for the price they are advertising it on their board and on FuelCheck, if the website price is different to what they are selling it at, either up or down in price, then the retailer is breaching the law and will be prosecuted.”
