THE Regional Australia Bank has given back to the Glen Innes community by donating more than $30,000 to local groups through its Community Partnership Program.

Regional Australia Bank Glen Innes Branch Manager Carol Bain said the Community Partnership Program works by customers opening a transaction account and selecting which group they would like to support.
“The Bank then calculates the average annual balance of all supporter’s accounts and donates one percent of the total to a cause on the customer’s behalf, all without costing them a cent,” Mrs Bain said.
Locals groups the Glen Innes Hospital Auxiliary; Glenrac; Glen Innes Rescue Squad; Glen Innes Minor league; and the Glen Innes and District Community centre, were just a few of the 30 groups to receive a donation from the total of $33,919.40 that was available.
Mrs Bain said the bank was passionate about giving back to the local community.
“We are committed to empower our customers to support local community groups they feel strongly about,’ she said.
“That’s why we established the Community Partnership Program eight years ago.
“The program that started out as one single account has now been made available to all customers so that everyone can take part in what the bank believes is a revolution in community banking.”
Mrs Bain said the program authenticates the bank’s promise to operate in the best interests of their customers and communities.
Glen Innes and District Community centre management committee chair Moira Munro said they were happy to have the money donated to them.
“We really appreciate the money especially as it is money that we didn’t have to work for,” she said.
“We will use the funds to develop our programs at the centre and to connect people with services that we know are beneficial to those in need in our community.
“Our aim is to provide an information and referral service, and crisis welfare assistance to those who need it in our district so this money will be put to good use.
“We’d like to thank the bank for this great initiative because this program is more about community than it is about money.”
Mrs Bain said the bank is very proud of its contribution to the community.
“It’s the opportunity to make a difference, to build communities and to create better places to live that drives so many of us – so it’s fitting that our customers, who are also members of our communities, lead the way in initiatives like this one” she said.
