A search is continuing following unconfirmed sightings of a prisoner who escaped from a minimum security facility in Glen Innes last week.

At about 1.05am on Tuesday September 20 correctional officers noticed that the window of 39 year old Steven Barber’s room was smashed and he was missing.
Barber’s disappearance was reported to police from New England Local Area Command and a search of the area was commenced to locate him.
Police have received unconfirmed reports a man fitting the description of Steven Barber was sighted about 20km north of Glen Innes around the area of the New England Highway on Monday.
Barber is described as being of Caucasian appearance, around 180cm to 185cm tall, about 80kg in weight, with a medium build, and short brown hair. He has tattoos of boxing gloves on his back and a tattoo of a snake on his left forearm. Police are urging anyone who knows the whereabouts of Steven Barber to come forward.
