That’s an increase of nearly a third on last year’s number of show-jumpers.
Winners Paula Hamood and her daughter Olivia hope to repeat their success at last year’s inaugural event, while Olympian Ron Easy will also return to the arena.
The weekend will see two arenas running with the whole main ring at the showground being utilised.
The event is free for the public to attend and it is an opportunity to witness some of the best show jump horse and riders in Australia compete for more than $17,000 in prize money and trophies.
Chief Steward Scott Brown said the event was being run in conjunction with the World Cup Qualifier in Tamworth on the following weekend.
Mr Brown hopes the event will become a regular fixture on the equine calendar.
Riders have come from across NSW as well as southern Queensland to compete at the event.
“The Glen Innes Show Society is very excited about the interest that has been shown by many past, current and future Olympic riders who have indicated they will attend,” he said.
World Cup Qualifier Olivia Hamood will return to the arena after her success at last year’s show, as well as winning the Gatton World Cup Qualifier in July.
Olympian David Cooper is also tipped to complete as is Clem Smith who was Queensland Equestrian of the Year.
Other competitors include 2015 Photo Create Grand Prix winner Paula Hamood, Gemma Creighton (daughter of ex-Olympian Guy Creighton) and Ron Easy, a long-time supporter of the Glen Innes Show.
“The blue ribbon event on the program, the Photo Create Grand Prix will be held on Monday and will see the very best horse and rider combinations in Australia compete for a prize pool of $4000 in that event,” Mr Brown said.
The competition starts about 8am on Saturday morning and will run through to Monday night.
“Sunday’s jumping will be spectacular with four Championship Jumps appearing on the program,” he said.
“Anyone wanting to see Show Jump Riding of the highest order should make their way to the Glen Innes Show Ground over the weekend as the jumps will be big and the competition world class.”
