Competitors came from all over Australia to compete at the Glen Innes Showground last weekend.
Spring Show chief steward Scott Brown said he was pleased that locals witnessed some of the best showjump horse and riders in Australia over the weekend.
“We had an increase in competitor and crowd numbers for this year’s event with attendance numbers up 30 percent from last year and that increase in numbers has come from the top end of show jumping competitors as they realise what a great event we have here,” he said.
Glen Innes Show society president Andrew Hancock said that despite the wet weather on Monday the ground held up well for competitors.
“If this event was held anywhere else it would have been called off on Monday, he said.
Glen Innes Show Society Secretary Neale Royal said the event was a huge success.
“We had cold winds on the opening day, a perfect Tablelands spring day on the Sunday and rain and winds on the final day with the event being a winner in the eyes of the competitors and organisers alike,” he said.
“All competitors agreed that the Glen Innes Showgrounds is one of the best jumping surfaces in rural Australia.”
Mr Royal said many of the top-class riders complimented the Showjumping Committee on the truly professional organisation of the jumping events and all have indicated that they will return for next year’s events.
”The weekend was a huge success from a social, fiscal and competition perspective,” he said.
