The spring fitness challenge sets fitness and weight loss goals for the “challengers” as Mr King likes to call them, with an aim for participants to be fighting fit for summer.
Mr King said the challenge started with 82 local entrants and 6 online entrants from Rockhampton to Sydney.
“The meal plans were custom designed to the challengers by a sports nutritionist and Rach from our crew and I wrote up custom workout plans,” he said.
“After the fortnight weigh-ins we had some amazing results with a total weight loss in two weeks of 240.6kg.
“This is such a huge achievement and the dedication shown from all those challengers already is impressive and I am really looking forward to the results in 12 week’s time.”
Mr King said seeing people improve their fitness is what inspires him to get out of bed each day.
"I'm so happy with the results the challengers are getting and seeing them getting fitter and stronger already is such a buzz for me,” he said.
“Some have energy they haven't felt in years. It will be great to see the after pics at the end of the challenge."
Kings Gym personal trainer Rach Kerr said the participants in this spring’s 12 week challenge are the most positive and dedicated group of people she has met.
‘They’ve worked hard and it shows by the results,” she said.
Kings Gym manager Karen King said they are also focusing on improving the fitness of local children.
“We want to help the youth of our community get active and enjoying fitness activities,” she said.
“We donated our time not long ago to the West Glen Infants School for their health focus month and the kids loved it so we are now extending that program into all schools in our district.
“We come out and spend an hour going through some activities and games designed to keep kids active and engaged, the kids have fun and get fit so it is a win-win situation.”
Mrs King said the gym has more exciting events coming up.
“On Tuesday Oct 18 at 6pm at the Town Hall, we will be hosting our second Pink Zumba Night to raise funds for the National Breast Cancer Foundation,” she said.
“Our fully qualified Zumba instructors Amelia Tunamena and Allysha Hodges will be leading a fun hour of Zumba dance.
“There will be prizes donated by Kings Gym on the night for best dressed, best dancer, lucky door prize and more, entry is a $10 donation at the door.”
