Local Wrap with love coordinator Joan Parker said the team have accomplished a lot so far in 2016.
“We now have 25 knitters meeting at the Glen Innes Library and many unknown secret knitters in our town and district making squares, strips and rugs and donating wool to help our cause in helping so many people in need,” she said.
“Our town has sent 1576 rugs to needy people since 1998 and the total for 2016 was 276 with 192 going to Sydney with Parsons and Tamex Carriers, their very generous donation is always appreciated.
“These rugs were sent in a shipment to World Vision for distribution in East Africa, we also supported the Glen Innes Hospital with 34 rugs going to maternity and palliative care wards.”
Mrs Parker said the group also gave local residents 21 rugs through the St Vincent De Paul Society and Glen Innes Community Centre.
“We also gave a donation of 29 baby rugs to the Priscilla Hall Memorial Trust in Bali,” she said.
“After a busy year my knit in group looks forward to a breakup luncheon and working on with our display at the Glen Innes Annual Show and continuing to tell the wrap with love story.”
