The shipment has eight complete Goldwind 2.5 MW wind turbine generators which are the biggest wind turbine blades to arrive in Australia to date.
The blades are destined for the White Rock Wind farm near Glen Innes.
“The blades will make their way to the White Rock Wind farm in the near future and that is tangible evidence that a new and and major industry is coming to town,” he said.
“That industry is renewable power generation and it is here to stay.”
Cr Toms said the progress of the White Rock Wind Farm is significant for Glen Innes.
“This is the first wind farm in New South Wales north of Sydney so it is very significant and Glen Innes is front and centre of all that is developing,” he said.
“People have been calling out for industry in Glen Innes and this is what this is.”
