This year’s event will be held at the Chapel theatre on Wednesday October 26 and Thursday October 27.
Dance instructor Lindy Alt said the 2017 show aims to be even better than last year’s event.
“Last year’s show went very well with the dancers receiving big ovations from the audiences,” she said.
“This year the dancers will be performing the pieces they took to Regional Dance Festival last term as well as several new pieces.
“Styles include contemporary, modern expressive, Broadway and lyrical jazz, Latin and hip hop, tap, ballet and J/F/H. The kids in the group range as usual from beginner to advanced levels and from year 7 to 10 this year with several exceptional younger students who are training with the group as part of our mentoring program.”
This year Mrs Alt said they are going to do shows for local school students.
“We will be doing two shorter day shows each day for the local schools and aged care facilities followed by an evening show that starts at 7.00 pm,” she said.
“Guest Performers will include dancers from Star Avenue Dance Centre, Amelia's KidzDance groups and a ladies Zumba item courtesy of Kings Gym as well as the ever popular lady tappers Blackbirds On Tap trained by Tania Davis and the program will also feature favourites Brianna Hope and Ryan McAlister.
“Brianna has just been accepted to study full-time dance in Queensland next year.”
Mrs Alt said dancers from the GIHS team have been involved in Regional Ensembles, including two who were selected to perform at the State Dance Festival in September.
“Our spectacular will include feature routines adapted or extended from these experiences,” she said.
“Many of the students have worked on their own choreography for the show and are excited to perform in smaller group items as well as our two showstopper numbers that include our entire team - 22 dancers from Year 10 down to Year three and five.
“The show will feature dancers from most of the schools in our area and from most of the dance studios as well so it is a true celebration of the wonderful array of dance available in Glen Innes.”
