Blaise Grant and Yasmin Hahn from Year 11 and Callista Sheridan from Year 9 were selected to perform at the festival because their performances at regional auditions were considered to be amongst the best in the state.
The State Drama Festival was held over two days at the Seymore Centre in Sydney.
Glen Innes High School Drama Teacher Genevieve Byrne said Yasmin was part of a group that created a self-devised piece.
“This is the first time work from the state drama camp has been selected and is based on alternative theatre practices and movement as a form of communication,” she said
Mrs Byrne said Blaise and Callista’s selection came after they auditioned for the state drama ensemble earlier this year.
“Students from Years 9, 10 and 11 auditioned via a filmed monologue with only 25 students being selected statewide,” she said.
"It is an absolute testament to the quality of work that drama students at Glen Innes High School are producing that we have them performing alongside the best in the State.
“Having been lucky enough to mark HSC practical drama this year I am extremely aware of what is out here in terms of performance and I am so proud of the talent and work Glen Innes High drama students are producing."
Actor Blaise Grant said he appreciated the opportunity to go to the drama festival in Sydney.
"This was such a wonderful experience and opportunity for me,” he said.
Fellow actor Callista Sheridan said she really enjoyed the creative process.
"I really enjoyed working with other students at the ensemble and experimenting and creating the performance,” she said.
Mrs Byrne said these opportunities do lead to students being employed in the industry.
"To me, the fact that our students are turning these experiences into careers is the whole point of our program,” she said.
