IT’S the time of year to give some thought to local families less fortunate than yourself, as the Celtic Cruisers rev up for their annual toy run around the district.

Celtic Cruisers Glen Innes Branch President Jack Parry urged any licensed motorcyclist with an interest in a ride out to Emmaville and Deepwater and back, to buckle on a helmet and join the good cause.
“It’s not just for club members,” Mr Parry said.
The run leaves Glen Innes on Saturday, December 10, from the Salvos in East Avenue at approximately 0930, returning to the Salvation Army Store later in the day, hopefully laden down with a ton of Christmas loot.
“Everyone is encouraged to contribute a new toy or two to the drive, appropriate for a child aged from newborn to around 10 years of age,” Mr Parry said.
The annual “Sylvia McClennan Memorial Toy Run” sees the riders collect and donate toys for families and kids in the local government area.
Mr Parry said they are pleased to be in partnership with local business for the annual event.
“In Glen Innes, the toy collection places will continue at one of our main supporters over the last 10 years - Graydons Amcal Chemist and Pharmacy,” he said.
“Our other new Glen Innes collection points are at Coles and Woolworths.
“In Emmaville the collection point is the General Store and in Deepwater Food Works will again be assisting in taking in the toys.
“We would not be able to do the toy run but for these organisations and their long-term support of this great cause to support local children.”
Mr Parry said this year the collection ride for the toys and delivery to the Salvos who will distribute the toys, will be an enjoyable day.
“Following a main street ride and collecting toys in Glen Innes the Cruisers will then travel on to Emmaville for a morning smoko and then to Deepwater for lunch, returning to the Salvo’s in Glen in the afternoon to deliver the collected toys,” he said.
“The branch would also like to thank the local communities of the local government area for their continued support in donating toys each year which then allows the Salvo’s to ensure as many kids in the region as possible have a great Christmas.
“All licenced riders are welcome to join with the Cruisers for the day and are asked to donate a toy for the run.”
