Seniors contribute many valuable hours of their time for their community, and now is the time to ensure some of those people are recognised for their efforts.
Nominees will be eligible for a Glen Innes Severn Council Mayoral Award.
The achievements and commitments of local seniors are being celebrated in April through the 2017 NSW Seniors Festival theme titled Inclusive Communities.
There are also grants available for special seniors week program projects.
In order to be eligible for a grant, applications must meet at least one of the 2017 NSW Seniors Festival grants program objectives.
These are programs designed to empower older people in NSW to stay connected and contribute to their communities and empower older people in NSW to live active and healthy lives with improved physical and mental wellbeing.
The programs are also about bringing together local community organisations to produce multicultural, intergenerational or lifestyle events for seniors in their community.
Organisers and participants in these programs are able to harness opportunities for seniors to continue to participate in activities outside of the NSW Seniors Festival.
Seniors are also encouraged to continue to learn through the programs.
Glen Innes resident Judy Fraser was awarded the Glen Innes Severn Council Mayoral Award for 2016.
