Event manager Chris Judge is concerned Glen Innes could lose the State Championship Car Rally if entry numbers don’t increase for the event in future years.
State Championship Car Rallying is coming to Glen Innes on Saturday, March 4 with the running of Rally New England, the first round of the 2017 NSW Rally Series.
The best teams in the State will battle it out over six timed stages on 136kms of gravel roads and many teams from Queensland are expected to enter.

Many teams from Queensland are expected to enter.
Temporary road closures will be in place on some roads in the district with the permission of the Glen Innes Severn Council and the NSW Police Service. Details on these road closures will be published closer to the event time.
Rally headquarters will be in the Glen Innes showgrounds.
Up to 55 teams will be taking part, returning four times during the day for servicing and any running repairs needed.
The public are invited to meet the drivers and have a close look at the cars at the start to take place inside the showgrounds at 9am,
The first cars will be flagged away by Mayor Steve Toms.
There will be two family-friendly spectating areas set-up where the competing cars can be safely viewed.
Directions on how to get there are available from Schafers Newsagency and AutoPro in Grey St, and Tyrepower in Inverell and Glen Innes.
A ‘Rally Shakedown’ that starts around 7pm will be run on Friday, March 3 inside the showground, with local VIP’s being taken for a ride around a specially designed course.
Entry is free and hot food will be available at the tea rooms.
Parking inside the Showground will be limited and spectators are requested to park in George or Torrington Streets and walk into the grounds.
The Rally concludes with the presentation of trophies after dinner at the Glen Innes Services Club on Saturday night.
The rally is organised by the New England Sporting Car Club with generous support from Glen Innes Severn Council and the Tourist Association.
“Support from rally competitors in previous years has been good,” event manager Chris Judge said.
“But we're struggling at the moment with not enough entries to make the event viable.
“It'd be a shame if it has to be cancelled,” he said.
The rally will be on Friday, March 3 to Saturday, March 4 at 6:30pm, with early activities starting at Glen Innes Showgrounds.
Entries close on February 24 and Chris can be contacted on 0447 333 252.
