His Excellency is a honey producer, and he and Mrs Hurley collected a Highly Commended in the light honey section of the show, the prize ensuring they will definitely be entering again next year.
The distinguished couple also spent time at History House meeting members and guests.
They also enjoyed the re-enactments from students in an old-world classroom.
A local reception was held on Saturday night to conclude the Governor’s three-day visit to the region.
Governor Hurley also visited Armidale, then the tomato farm and library in Guyra on Friday, before opening the show that evening.
“The Glen Innes Show has brought the community together for almost 150 years and is one of the best-known agricultural shows in NSW. I’m honoured to be opening such an important community event,” Governor Hurley said.
