Abdihafid Ali Mohamed was refused bail in Armidale Local Court on Monday charged with supplying a prohibited drug, dealing with the suspected proceeds of crime and resisting arrest.
The 22-year-old was arrested during a car stop in Church St, Glen Innes, just after midnight on Saturday. Police allege he had $2700 in cash as well as a quantity of a crystallised substance.
“Highway patrol officers pulled over a vehicle for a random breath test,” New England Inspector Chris McKinnon said.
“After speaking with the occupants, the male was subjected to a search a quantity of cash and approximately 23 grams of a crystallised substance which police will allege is ice was discovered on his person.

“The drugs have been seized and will undergo forensic analysis.”
Police allege the drug seizure has an estimated street value of $23,000.
Mohamed was arrested and charged with three offences as well as other charges stemming from an unrelated incident.
He appeared in an out-of-sessions bail hearing on Sunday where he was refused release.
Mohamed appeared via video link in court on Monday and lodged a fresh application for bail which was denied by Magistrate Michael Holmes.
Mr Holmes found Mohamed, who lives in North Melbourne, was an unacceptable risk of committing a serious offence, endangering the safety of the community and failing to appear at court.
