The GhostStags came up against an injury-depleted Armidale Blues at Moran Oval and made the most of it.
The Blues started in the same fashion as they did the week before against Robb College, earning the first five pointer through Brendan Czinner.
Glen-Guyra got on the board through a penalty kick, the boot of Pate Kaufana doing the damage.
The visiting side hit the front when Kaufana crossed and converted his own.
Tom Lee gave Armidale a 14-10 edge right on halftime when he crossed.
A Kaufana penalty goal combined with last season’s second grade best and fairest Liva Sili at his rampaging best, who muscled his way over the tryline, put the visitors back in the lead 20-14.
Blues standout Ian Ranger crossed to bring the deficit back to just one for a nailbiting finish.
The GhostStags made the most of a penalty seconds before fulltime and Kaufana nailed it to bring up his 18 points for the match and deliver his team the victory.
Captain Jeremy Hallam put the win down to his side gelling together for the first time.
“Bloody good, about time,” he said.
“Just lack of playing together but it has just finally come together for us so look out everyone else.
“We all worked as one and came out hard at the start and our defence was pretty good too.”
Glen Innes-Guyra have the bye in round eight.
