Once again it was a huge success with, to date, $1006.15 having been raised. Ms Byers said she was overwhelmed with the support she received from the residents of Emmaville and surrounds, and would like to give her thanks to the people who helped on the day and to all those who donated.
Local award-winning country music singer Rachel Jillett once again entertained the 70-plus guests with songs from her albums and even had guests singing along with her. At times she was accompanied by publicity-shy ‘Binky’ on the washboard and lagerphone.
Ron Jillett donated $50 to the cause to hear Rachel sing Old Times At Emmaville, a song close to the heart of those gathered.
Ms Jillett said it was a privilege to be invited back again to entertain and help raise funds for such an important charity.
“Anna, once again, did a wonderful job organising this event and is to be commended for all of her hard work,” she said.
“Thank you, Anna and to the residents of Emmaville and surrounds for your support and attendance.”
Ms Byers dedicated the morning tea to two ladies who fought and lost their battle with cancer: her sister-in-law and to an Emmaville lady who lost her battle a few weeks ago. She also dedicated the morning tea to a young boy from Glen Innes who has been diagnosed with Leukaemia and has a long hard battle in front of him.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with him and hope that he makes a full recovery,” Ms Byers said.
