Centre coordinator Brenda Beauchamp said the device was purchased through fundraising by various groups across town including the CWA.
“The CWA ladies held a fashion parade and they raised $900,” she said.
“Then they wrote to other community groups in town to see if they could get help to buy the defibrillator.”
Their calls were answered through gaining money from the Mayoral fund, Lions Club and the Men’s Shed.
The total cost of the device, including the frame, was $2400.
“It’s now proudly sitting up there and it’s only the third one in the main street I think,” Mrs Beauchamp said.
A small object – that may one day save a life.
