Parents say principal Lesley Burch, who is the current acting principal, has forged great relationships with students since she began at the school only six months ago.
The school’s P&C committee member, Brigitte Burridge, said she had loved having Mrs Burch at the school.
“In six years of having children at the school, in my opinion, the educational standard and general discipline has never been better,” she said.
But Mrs Burch is set to be replaced at the end of term.
The move has left parents arguing that, with a school that has a 23 per cent special needs component and a large Indigenous enrolment, Mrs Burch is perfect for the role having had extensive experience in both these areas.
They say they’re unsure as to why the Department is seeking a replacement when Mrs Burch would be happy to stay in the position, and is qualified for it.
The parents now await a response from the Minister.
