And this weekend some little Warialda pigs will hit the ground running at the Glen Innes Pig Races.
The event, which is back after taking a break in 2016, raises money for the Heart Foundation and the local Netball Association.
Co-organiser Jane Roe said the 2015 event saw a crowd of around 200 people and raised over $6000.
“When I first started out doing pig races I wanted to raise money for the Heart Foundation,” she said.
“Being such a hard job I decided to get some help which is when the Netball Association came onboard.”
But for Ms Roe, fundraising has always been a personal journey.
“I started doing some fundraising when I was living in the Hunter Valley,” she said.
“It all started out as a bit of a joke but then I lost my uncle to a massive heart attack so it all became a bit more serious.”
Gates open at 11am this Sunday (June 25) at the New England Club with the first race to start at 12 noon.
