After three years on tour in Germany and Thailand, singer-songwriter and Glen Innes boy Kent Eastwood is returning home with his long-awaited new album.

Produced and recorded in Berlin, New Beginnings features the multi-instrumentalist’s skills on piano, guitar, harmonica, banjo and mandolin.
Mr Eastwood said he was thrilled to have a gig back in his home town – after many years away.
“I left Glen Innes in the late 90s and moved to Sydney to pursue music,” he said.
The muso lived off-and-on in Sydney for 15 years before making the life-changing decision to move to Germany.
Three years on and Mr Eastwood has relocated back to his home state, living near Byron Bay.
“I don’t know what it is [about Byron Bay] but you can pull a guitar out at a cafe and the music just oozes out of you down there,” he said.
“It’s a creative space.”
Mr Eastwood said he first developed an interest in music as a teenager at Glen Innes High School.
He picked up a guitar one day during music class.
“I started playing these few chords and I thought ‘wow this is awesome’,” he said.
And the rest is history.
Mr Eastwood will be touring the country with Australian songwriter Sam Buckingham.
“Sam Buckingham is a really good friend of mine,” he said.
“We’re really collaborating on each others tunes and it’s not really two separate solo acts.
“It’s really nice because we often do play solo, so it’s great to do something together.”
The pair met at a singer-songwriter jam night in Sydney 10 years ago and have kept in touch ever since.
“She got me to play a lot of instruments on her record last year,” he said.
“She has just released that and I’ve just released my new album so we decided to team up and do some shows together.
“This tour we are doing is mostly house concerts, but I always like to stop in at the Chapel Theatre if I can.”
Mr Eastwood will also tour his new album throughout Europe later this year while Ms Buckingham returns to Nashville to continue her songwriting career.
And as for what’s next for the multi-talented musician? “I’ll just wait and see where the wind takes me,” he said.
The pair will play at the Chapel Theatre this Thursday from 8pm, with tickets available at Carelles Young World.
