The students put on a show for the RFS as they came to observe the school’s fire drills.
The RFS then put on a show demonstrating their skills and knowledge with managing fire safety at home.
There were many discussions about the need for a fire drill at home, smoke alarms and fire blankets.
The students enjoyed ‘getting down low and go, go, go!’.
“These types of days and programs build awareness and recognition within the community,” Red Range Public School teacher Scott Warner said.
“Parents can be very proud of their children for the way they handled the excitement of the day.”
NSW RFS members across NSW are actively engaged with the children’s services and school communities in delivering key messages about bushfire safety; connecting with teachers and parents; providing guidance on emergency planning, and participating in emergency drills.
“Here is another way that our students engage and support our community,” he said.
“Utilising and incorporating community partnership helps our students see practical examples of people in our community giving back unselfishly.
“It also allows for students to think of simple and practical ways they can contribute both now and into the future.”
