Between 400 and 500 young soccer players turned up for the local association’s tournament.
Players from as young as under six through to 14s played at the event.
Glen Innes District Football’s president Preston Parkes said it was an excellent turnout.
“Everybody enjoyed it,” he said.
“The weather was warm and it was all played in a great spirit.”
Chris Wilson coached an under 12s team to second spot behind Inverell.
He said the under 12s and an under six team were the top placings for Glen Innes teams on the day.
“Heaps of people turned up and it was a great day for it too, everyone I spoke to enjoyed it, they really did,” he said.
“It did run a bit late in the back end of the day but that’s the nature of competitive sport.
“My daughter’s team, she’s in the six-year-olds, got second overall for the day.”
