The NSW Government’s Regional Sports Infrastructure Fund will allow areas outside of Sydney to apply for a portion of the funding to improve local tracks, fields and pitches.
Glen Innes netball’s Sally Floyd said given success of the local association, they would definitely be putting interest in to receive a grant.
“Currently our association has numerous high calibre netballers. Our girls have had an extremely successful year, taking out the 2017 NSW State Championships, the School’s Cup and are currently leading the Division 1 Regional State League Championships just to name a few of the achievements,” she said.
“It is extremely disappointing that we are currently unable to provide adequate facilities for our association to be able to host any of these matches, which not only means our teams are constantly travelling out of the region to participate but we are missing the opportunity to bring people to our beautiful town.
“We want to be able to ensure that we can support our athletes and continue to provide the opportunities and facilities that our athletes deserve. Our association does not currently have a clubhouse and once boasted over 20 courts which have now been reduced to three due as their condition has deteriorated.”
