John Mathew decided not to stand again for the treasurer’s post which he has filled for the past decade after two decades as secretary.
At the age of 80, he has decided he has to devote more time to his wife and home. John is a true Celt, having migrated from South Wales more than fifty years ago. He feels the work he has done is important in helping “to recognize the Celtic people’s contribution to Australia”.
He says he’s still going to help informally even without his formal role. Judi Toms who chairs the management committee said John’s contribution was “significant” because he was there at the inception.
