Community Project Officer Sandy McNaughton showcased the plan during an Inverell Shire Council meeting on Wednesday. She invited interested locals – and councillors – to attend a number of Community Investment Discovery Sessions to be held in Inverell, Wellingrove, Moree and Glen Innes early next month.
While large-scale renewable energy projects are common in Europe, the initiative would be the first opportunity of its kind in Australia. But it will only be implemented if the community shows enough interest. For this reason, locals are invited to obtain information and participate in a survey to gauge interest where, in return, they could win an iPad (or a whole lot more if the plan actually goes through).
The discovery sessions will be held at the RSM in Inverell and at the Wellingrove Hall on September 4, at the Town and Country in Moree and at the Services Club in Glen Innes on September 5, and at the Tamworth Town Hall and the Armidale City Bowling Club on September 6.
Those wishing to attend the Discovery Sessions can register (www.cwp-investment-discovery.eventbrite.com.au). Those unable to attend can participate in the survey online.
