Under 8s
The under 8s had a round robin in Bingara on the weekend to finish off their 2017 season. What a wonderful day it was.
Glen Innes played Moree, Warialda, Bingara and Ashford. The whole team put in a great effort defensively and in attack winning all four games.
At the end of the round robin they were all awarded a medallion from Group 19 and some merchandise from Country Rugby League.
Congratulations to all the under 8s players for a great year.
Under 12s
The Magpies under 12s side were the first of the Glen Innes teams to land a spot in Saturday’s decider after qualifying in the first week of semi-finals.
They took on Inverell in the semi in Guyra and won 20-12.
The Mapies will face Inverell again after the Hawks beat the Super Spuds last week.
Senior League Tag
The SLT girls have won through to the grand final next Saturday after a tough win over Tingha in the preliminary final at Bingara.
On a very warm day, the girls played an awesome defensive game to win 10-6.
The score was locked at 6-all at the half-time break and that was a summary of the game, very tight.
The deadlock was broken in the second half when Kizzy McLaren scored.
Well done girls. Let’s go for the top with one more big effort like you showed on Saturday.
Under 16s
The Under 16s played an extremely exciting and powerful game on Saturday against a big Armidale side.
From early on, you could see the U16s were eager to play in the grand final, chasing the ball from the first kick-off and scoring underneath the posts in the first minute.
This gave Glen Innes all the enthusiasm to continue their powerhouse game, winning it 26-10.
The whole team stood up and played an outstanding game.
Good luck for next week boys in the grand final against Inverell.
We are all behind you and know you can do it.
Congratulations.
Under 14s
Last game for the day was our Under 14s who took on Armidale in the preliminary final at Bingara and came out winners 24-14.
The boys played well in both offence and defence, cementing their position in the grand final next Saturday against Inverell.
Super effort all round, very proud of the determination and guts. Bring on the grand final! Get your cheering voices ready to support all our Magpies.
