At the chimney blaze, nine officers attended from both the RFS and the Glen Innes Fire and Rescue Unit. The Deepwater RFS were stood down because the situation was contained by those already there.
The RFS also put out a blaze at Beaufort Road, west of Glen Innes. off the Gwydir Highway.
The dry and windy conditions call for extra care, according to Supt Chris Wallbridge of the Northern Tablelands RFS. “People need to be very careful with fires”, he said.
