Ms Parsons has been the manager of curatorial and exhibitions at the art museum for two years, and in that time overseen the delivery of more than forty programs.
The programs include a range of collection, touring, local artist and special project exhibitions, and was the lead curator of HINTON: Treasures of Australian Art, a permanent salon hang that presents a selection of works from NERAM’s seminal Hinton Collection.

Ms Parsons said she was very excited to be taking up the role.
“Over the past two years I have been fortunate to be involved in a period of growth and change at NERAM, and to work with an incredible team of staff and volunteers,” she said.
“I am excited to continue this work within my new role as Director and to further realise the Museum’s place as one of the most significant and engaging art institutions in regional Australia.
“I’m very grateful for the on-going support of NERAM’s Board and community, and I look forward to working with them to further activate the Museum, build on its momentum and to engage audiences in a diverse program of exhibitions and events”
New England Regional Art Museum Board chair Andrew Murray announced the appointment on July 1.
Her initial foray into the arts was as an artist but quickly developed an interest in engagement and designing exhibition and museum spaces.
Ms Parsons said one of the key focuses will be going back to her “research roots and look at engagement”
“So expanding who withing in our local community come to NERAM,” Ms Parsons said.
“The kind of programs we can deliver here that increase our capacity to provide meaningful engagement with cultural practice.
“We have an amazing collection and facility here, and it should be something people should want to come too.”
