Local Good Samaritan Joan Jones has collected ten kilos of tea bags over the past few months and often gets an inquisitive look when she tells why she is collecting them.
Ms Jones is well on her way to collecting the 14 kilos that are needed that will enable a wheelchair to be donated to a child in need.
“I’d like to thank all the ladies that have collected the tags off teabags over the past few months,” Ms Jones said.
“When 14 kilos of labels are collected a wheel chair is donated to a child in need and we have 10 kilos of labels so far.
“These tags have been donated to the oncology unit in Tamworth and other community members and I are now continuing to collect these tags for a local child in need.”
Tamworth Hospital accommodation and support services spokesperson Shane Fraser said they appreciate the good will of people like Joan.
“We are trying to get enough tea bags to achieve the weight of a child and then the hospital will be donated a wheelchair,” she said.
