Members of the Safe in Our Town (SiOT) network created the stickers as part of a project that aims to raise awareness about family and domestic violence in Glen Innes.
The phone numbers on the stickers and cards include a number if they just need to talk things through, or if they need a safe places to stay.
One of the workers on the Safe in our Town project, Laurie Newsome, said the stickers were created because people who experience family and domestic violence often don’t know where to go for help when they need it.
“This issue is exacerbated in rural areas,” he said, “where people often have to travel to get the services they need”.
“It’s tricky,” he said. “And there is still a lot of work to be done in order to get more services in Glen Innes, but at least the stickers and information cards point people in the right direction.”
Members of the Safe in Our Town network are also developing a HELP in Glen Innes website that has more comprehensive information about services. This should be launched by the middle of the year.
The network is also has other awareness raising activities in the pipeline and Mr Newsome said that information about these can be found on the Safe in Our Town Facebook page.
