Club treasurer Sandra Watts said the $9,480 sail will protect kids swimming in the children’s feature pool from the blistering sun come summer.
“We get a lot of kids and parents sitting down this end and they’ve complained about sun,” Ms Watts said.
“It’s somewhere for them to sit with their little ones.”
The money was part of a $19,600 grant, with the balance of the funds being put into shade shelters.
The club are also chasing funding for further shade around the back of the pool for swimmers lining up for races and the timekeepers.
“We’ve actually got a qualifying meet coming up in September,” she said.
“We have quite a few carnivals here and it gets pretty hot standing up the other end.
“In the meantime we’ll just use gazebos.”
The club thanked Northern Tablelands MP Adam Marshall for his help in sourcing the funding.
