Dropped ball and uncharacteristic errors hampered the start for the home side but when they kicked into gear, they ran away with the game 56 points to Narwan’s six.
It is a good time going into the finals, good time of the year to get everyone tuned up.
- David Biddle
Glen Innes co-coach David Biddle said while the opening 10 minutes weren’t ideal, the side’s attack came together and the outside backs were able to capitalise.
“Just dropped ball, just attitude from our girls,” he said.
“They were just complacent.
“The second half they played well and scored 30-odd points.
“The first half they were complacent but [in the] second half they just backed each other up, good passing and support play was excellent.
“They played just a good, expansive game and got around the outside.
“Our wingers scored tries and just looked good.”
Two regular season matches remain in the season with the Magpies travelling to Inverell this Saturday for a clash with the Hawks.
The last time the two league tag teams met in Glen Innes, Inverell came away with the points, winning 18-12.
The Hawks sit just outside the top five on points differential and will be eager to clinch the win to put themselves in contention for a title tilt.
Biddle said his side will have to step up their performance against Inverell.
“They will be up for us because they beat us [at home] last time,” he said.
“The girls will be up for that, they'll be right.
“We've improved but Inverell always like to put on a good contest.”
The final round to be played in Glen Innes is against Moree Boars, who are currently equal with Inverell on the table.
“Then we have the Boars the week after at home.
“It is a good time going into the finals, good time of the year to get everyone tuned up.”
