The ambition is to attract higher quality images and eventually to raise the competition to a national standard attracting the very best pictures from Australia and beyond.
The photographer, Steve Wright, who teaches at Glen Innes TAFE, said the first prize would be $2,000, with the aim of getting “more professional imagery”. He said: “The idea is that we are going to limit it to a hundred entries, with a $50 entrance fee.”
The raised prize money comes from Photo Create because Hugh Eastwood who runs it has a passion for stills photography.
He said: “All I want to do with this is raise the profile of photography at the Glen Innes Show.
“I hope this will become a unique photographic prize for the region.”
