Wins for Emmaville and Kings gym in round eight of Glen Innes cricket

An excellent performance with the bat by Paul Knox with 56 not out wasn’t enough to secure the win for the Cavaliers when they took on Kings in round eight of the Glen Innes cricket competition. Ray Grob with 14 not out was the only other batsman to trouble the scorers.

Kings won the toss and sent Cavaliers into bat at King George Oval.

Isaiah Tunamena took two quick wickets for the Kings to have the Cavaliers under pressure early.

The Cavaliers plugged away to finish 5-98 after their 20 overs.

Hugh Mitchell with 30, Luke Mepham and Brendon Jillet with 17 saw the Kings home in the 17th over.

Codey Guise and Matthew Wharton with two wickets a piece bowled well for the Cavaliers.

Cavaliers 5-98 defeated by Kings 7-100.

In the other game Colts slumped to their third loss in a row against Emmaville.

Colts batted first and finished their innings on 7-89.

Tom Chard top scored with 26, Ritesh Shikhawat and Steve Jonstone chipped in with 13 apiece.

Brock Simpkins took 4-18 off his four allotted overs.

A Matt Campion-hat-trick wasn’t enough to get the Colts home as Emmaville overtook the Colts score nine wickets down.

Ian Law’s knock of 26 not out Ian Law helped Emmaville secure top spot on the ladder. Matt Campion 4-15 and Michael Miller 3-18 were the pick of the bowlers for the Colts.

Next week will see the Kings take on Emmaville at King George Oval and Colts look to get back on track against a hapless Cavaliers at Lynch Oval.
