The school kept the welcome for the new children private as the kids made themselves familiar with their new surroundings – and parents got used to life without the small person who has been at home until today.
There’s been a week of new beginnings at the school, with older pupils returning earlier in the week.
Tommy Gill has been having treatment at the John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle.
In the past, Tommy’s mum, Sam, has praised the support of the town as her family has gone through a difficult period: “I’ve just been blown away by how supportive Glen Innes is”, she said last year.
“I’m not good with words but it’s just overwhelming. I’m really thankful for the support of the Glen Innes community, and it’s wonderful to feel supported while we’re down here.
“It’s making this journey a little easier.”
The Public School has welcomed Tommy into what it’s hoped will be a normal routine.
