They will hope results go their way in the final round this Sunday after Tamworth chased down their total.
Ben Heagney top scored for Armidale with 55 as they finished their 50 overs at 7-198.
With the ball, Glen Innes local Bradyn Campion [playing for Armidale] was the pick of the side’s bowlers with 4-20 from 10 overs as Tamworth earned the required runs in 46.1 overs eight wickets down.
“We only just got beaten. We were just a bit understrength,” Armidale coach Greg Johnson said.
