On Monday, Geoff Hetherington complained to The Examiner about the state of a road only 500 metres into Glen Innes Severn Council’s area.
It was being progressively washed away so “a concerned road user” found some unused bollards and put them up to warn drivers about the ever widening ditch.
It appeared, said Mr Hetherington, to be “completely off the Council’s radar. Even Inverell shire has made some attempt to grade their part of that road.”
He wondered if we could raise the council’s awareness – so we did, contacting the mayor on Tuesday.
On Wednesday, the head of infrastructure (in charge of engineering and such matters), Keith Appleby, rang and said they had missed the state of the road and its priority would be raised.
He welcomed the intervention of a concerned, observant citizen.
