The Far Northern Tennis Championships were held in Glen Innes on the weekend. While entries were down due to a conflict with a North Coast Junior Development Series event, the Championship was a success.

Players travelled from Casino, Inverell, Gunnedah, Tamworth, Armidale, Guyra and several Glen Innes juniors competed as well.
Angus Lane was runner up in the B Men’s Singles, Nerida Holznagel was runner up in the A Women’s Singles in a very close and entertaining match and Karen Correy easily won the B Women’s Singles. A heavy downpour saw play called off early on Sunday with several events not completed. The committee decided to award joint winner status in all uncompleted finals. Many thanks to the team of volunteers who served up the delicious and well priced food and also the ground crew for ensuring the courts were in suitable condition. Many travelling players commented on how much they enjoy this event.
