Organised jointly with the council’s Community Services department, it will involve a mix of the traditional – like a fashion parade – but also the ground-breaking – like female achievers in areas traditionally dominated by men.
One of the speakers will be Winsome Herde, an engineer with the council, and the other Navanka Fletcher, who was recently appointed to coordinate the town’s big festivals.
Kerry Byrne, the library’s manager, said: “We are attempting to bring young women into this event.” She thought the two speakers would be inspirational as examples of how women can achieve.
The event starts at 5 pm, with the fashion parade taking place an hour later.
