Glen Innes’ Liz Chard, Brigette Beatty and Sophie McCormick as well as former representative player Anna Atkinson will take the court in the netball events while Montana Harvey will play in the Australian Rules Football team.
More than 100 athletes from around the region are set to compete in the Games which will be hosted by the Hunter Academy of Sport.
The three-day event begins this Friday with eight sports – hockey, golf, netball, basketball, tennis, softball, surfing and Aussie Rules part of the competition.
Head NIAS AFL coach Alan Martin believes the girls will handle themselves very well in the under 16 competition.
“These girls have been playing open women’s footy against stronger and bigger players,” he said.
“The NIAS have got the fitness to run against the younger girls at the Academy Games, plus they’ve developed pretty good skills.”
Academies who will compete in the Games include; Central Coast, Far West, Hunter, Illawarra, North Coast , Northern Inland,Southern, South East, South West Sydney, Western Region and Western Sydney.
