Service NSW estimates that the entire process will be cut from 18 months to approximately 90 days.

Mayor, Cr Steve Toms said, “Council is very conscious of attracting new business to Glen Innes, and is aware of the difficulties for new business aspirants under the current application process.
“Therefore, Council welcomes this Service NSW initiative and to joining forces to work together in simplifying and speeding up approvals.”
Service NSW, which has a shopfront in Glen Innes, has developed a new streamlined process which assists Council as well, by including local government requirements in the new fast track system.
The new program offers a “one stop shop” approach to the form-filling, regulations, enquiries, and approvals process ordinarily associated with starting up a new business.
From Monday, anyone wanting to start up a new business can either go directly to Service NSW for everything that is required, including the satisfaction of any Council requirements, or they can come to Council for the local government part of the process and complete the process through Service NSW.
A concierge system is key to easing the pressure on new applicants. A dedicated Business Concierge partners each applicant from start to finish.
The concierge will act as a personal “case manager”; they liaise with Council and are on hand to answer any questions and review new applications throughout the process.
The concierge can also provide links and contacts to business and financial advice, including scoping the proposed business and analysing and assessing the viability of business plans.
“Council highly recommends anyone intending to start up a café, restaurant or small bar takes advantage of the new process offered by Service NSW,” Cr Toms said.
Service NSW will add other industry classifications and business types to the range of new business applicants who can tap into this new system.
