Local artist Mike Gilbert’s new exhibition “Oils, Oils, Oils” opened at the Glen Innes Art Gallery on Saturday afternoon.

Cr Colin Price officially opened the exhibition at 4pm.
Forty people attended the opening, and Mike sold nine paintings, which, he said, far exceeded his expectations.
Visitors enjoyed quiches, sausage rolls, and sandwiches provided by caterers Hereford Steakhouse.

Mike takes photographs of scenes in Australia and abroad, and then works on canvas with oils in his Glen Innes studio.
His subjects include Mexican ports, Balkan lakes, Canadian coasts, Italian towns, Edinburgh, his hometown of Bristol, outback telegraph stations, Norfolk Island, Lismore, and – closer to home – Waverley Shed and the station house.
The gallery’s promotional material says: “Mike’s paintings range from miniatures to large works and would make a good long-term investment or are perfect for Christmas gifts.
The show runs until July 6.
