Drover Stephen Priestley is walking stock between the towns by day and penning them in each night behind electric fences.
He’s walked them about 50 kilometres.
The very visible sign of the impact of the drought is there for all to see as farmers in the toughest areas seek what scant grass there is on the Northern Tablelands where drought is bad and getting worse.
Mr Priestley said the real problem would be next year if rain doesn’t come. Drought in this area is not as bad as it is further west and south. When pasture here runs out, then worse problems start.
