The nuptials of Oswald Edward Sloman and Lucy McCormack was reported in the Glen Innes Examiner of May 5, 1917: “A pretty wedding was celebrated at Bald Nob on Wednesday afternoon, the contracting parties being Mr O. E. Sloman of Dundee and Miss Lucy McCormack, of Bald Nob.

“The bride was beautifully attired in a frock of white organdie muslin and wore the customary wreath and veil.
“She also carried a handsome sheaf of white lilac and ferns with tulle and satin streamers and wore a handsome gold necklace and brooch set with diamonds, the gift of the bridegroom.
“The bridesmaids were Miss Jessie McCormack, sister of the bride [left], and Miss Evie Sloman sister of the bridegroom [right].
“Each were becomingly attired in organdie frocks with touches of pink and carried bouquets of pink flowers and ferns with tulle streamers; which with gold brooches set with diamonds were gifts of the bridegroom.
They were the recipients of many costly and useful presents...
“Messrs W. Hartmann and Wilfred Sloman supported the bridegroom as best man and groomsman respectively.
“The ceremony was performed by Monseigneur Tobin.
“After the ceremony at which only the immediate relatives of the couple were present, refreshments were partaken of and the health of the bride and groom was proposed by Monseigneur Tobin.
“Mrs Larkin, mother of the bride, wore a tailored costume with hat to match and Mrs John Sloman (mother of the groom) wore black crepe de chine, hat en suite.
“The newly wedded couple motored to Armidale, where they caught the train to Sydney, en route to the Jenolan Caves, where the honeymoon is being spent. The bride’s travelling dress was of grey crepe de chine, hat to match.
“They were the recipients of many costly and useful presents, among the number being a handsome silver tea and coffee service given by the Dundee Jockey Club of which group the bridegroom is secretary.”
Lucy’s parents were Bart and Elizabeth, and Oswalds’ were John Thomas and Sarah.
Ossie and Lucy’s children were John McCormack, James Oswald, Robert Edward, Sheila (Crisp) and Patricia (Munro).
Sometimes, in those early days the newspaper report of a wedding would list in great detail both the present giver and their gift.
