He’s already fielding calls from livestock producers in more drought-stricken areas farther south in the Hunter Valley and around Tamworth chasing agistment, but there’s not yet enough feed.
“There’s none around,” he said.
“The country’s growing but it will be awhile before we’re out of it.”
He said any growth is short, maybe alright for sheep but not cattle.
He feels as the warmer weather moves in that the lack of groundwater will be the next problem, with farm dams and water courses far from replenished.
“We need to have the runoff water.”
