Starting on Saturday with Tenterfield’s interclub event, pony clubbers from around the region will saddle up to take on the show riding, showjumping and sporting events.
The first weekend of the northern Zone 13 interclub events was held on Saturday and Sunday with around 100 riders each day. Tenterfield president Jennifer Donadel is hoping for similar numbers.
“It is good to have them together also because people travel from away to come and do two rather than just doing one,” she said.
“Guyra had 80-something kids and then there was 100 or so in Inverell so if we got between that and the 80-mark that would be great.”
Emmaville’s interclub event will be held on Sunday to round out the double header.
The two clubs have been holding their events together for a number of years and Emmaville secretary Tess Klingner believes it makes it more convenient for families to enter their kids.
“Being the two [days], you come to the one ground and get two days so I guess that is also good,” she said.
With 55 members at the Emmaville club, Klingner is hoping they turn out in a sea of yellow.
“We are hoping for quite a few of them to go, we only had a couple of families last weekend but I am hoping for 20 to 30 of our own riders this weekend,” she said.
